Meet Dr. Rachel Friel (Chapel Hill, NC)

Rachel Friel, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She went on to complete a primary care and ocular disease residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina, where she trained with specialists in primary care, retinal disease, glaucoma, and anterior segment conditions, including dry eye disease.

Dr. Friel has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of dry eye disease. She understands how challenging this condition can be for patients and helps guide them through treatment with clear education, effective protocols, and ongoing support. She finds great fulfillment in helping patients achieve solutions to both visual and medical concerns.

Outside of the office, Dr. Friel enjoys spending time with her husband, their two boys, and their golden retriever, Ken Scruffy Jr.
